I've been incredibly busy working on Ethel and Ernest in studio352, but I finally took the time to upload the last part of chapter2.
I'll try to keep this up...

Rough of the week#43

I've been really, very busy at work lately, and even though I enjoy the extra load, it hasn't left much time -or energy- to do much of anything else, but early this week I started working again on chapter -albeit a bit slowly- and it's fun!
I hope I can get myself organized so I keep going, and keep publishing the older chapters on vimeo more regularly.

Fransesco has finally landed himself in real trouble. But in a town where everyone sees him as the obvious culprit, how can he prove his innocence?

The computing of Violince into an app is costly, long and frustrating, so for now I'll start publishing the new chapters on vimeo, in short installments. It's a bit of a shame, but in a way,I think I may like this video format a bit better, as it is closer to the pacing I have in my head...

This is taped just above my desk as I'm working on my new short-short, flippin'birds.
It's gonna be even shorter, but hopefully it'll make you laugh!

short short- rendering process #3

One last short explanation video for the technique I used for the bird.
It's very similar to what I did for the waiter, only this time the bird is sort of staying there and the 'seams' are showing ...potentially.
It worked well this time around because the movements are quitesharp, but the idea of printing out and painting over the animation on paper is something I find intriguing and I'd like to experiment more with it.

short short- rendering process #3

A new video explaining a little bit how I got the textures on the character. I left the subtleties out, but you get the idea.
This also reveals the one big mistake I feel I did on this short, which was to separate and tie down the head 'on the spot'. the original idea was to better control the textures, but it wasn't much help in the end and it gives the head a slightly disconnected feel.
A live and learn kind of thing, I guess...
